Drew stood with his back turned, waiting to see his bride.
Just a few steps behind him, Hannah was waiting too.
They had planned this moment for as early in the day as they possibly could. Not because they wanted to hurry through anything, but for the exact opposite reason.
They wanted as much of their wedding day together as they could possibly have.
So as soon as Hannah was ready, she made her way outside to Drew. And as he stood there waiting to turn around, there was so much more wrapped up in those few seconds than simply the anticipation of a wedding morning.
Because really, they had been making their way toward this moment for more than two years.
It started with a summer Hannah hadn't planned on.
In 2024, Drew was preparing to return to Scioto Hills for his fourth summer on staff. Hannah, on the other hand, had never even been there. She hadn't planned on working at camp that summer either, but she couldn't seem to get Scioto Hills off her mind.
She felt a tug to go serve, and every time she tried to move on from the idea, something seemed to bring it back in front of her.
Even around Cedarville University, where they are both students, Hannah kept noticing a guy wearing Scioto Hills shirts.
Eventually, Hannah listened to that prompting and applied. She arrived for staff training in May and met Drew that very first night.
Within a couple of days, she knew she loved spending time with him. She even called her roommate and sent her a picture of the new friend she'd met.
That's when her roommate reminded her of the guy from campus.
The one in all those Scioto Hills shirts.
It had been Drew all along.
What began as friendship grew over a summer spent serving side by side. They discovered how naturally they encouraged one another and built each other up in ministry, and Drew quickly became Hannah's best friend. Friendship turned into dating, and through a lot of prayer and a relationship that continued to grow, they eventually began talking about forever.
Then, on August 31, 2025, Drew asked Hannah to marry him.
We loved getting to hear even more of their story while photographing their timeless engagement session at Magnolia Estate, and now, almost two years after the summer that brought them together, Drew was standing at The Bicentennial Barn waiting to turn around and see that same girl as his bride.
When he finally did, both of their faces lit up.
They immediately started walking toward each other with the biggest smiles until all the space between them disappeared.
They were finally together.
And that's exactly where they wanted to stay.
Hand in hand. Side by side. For as much of their wedding day as they possibly could.
That first look seemed to set the tone for everything that followed.
Everywhere we looked throughout Hannah and Drew's wedding day at The Bicentennial Barn in Dayton, there they were reaching for each other's hands, laughing together, and soaking in every second with the people they loved.
And during their ceremony, we witnessed another moment that so beautifully reflected the foundation of their relationship.
As music filled the barn, their family and friends lifted their voices together in worship. Then Hannah and Drew's parents stepped forward.
They gathered closely around the two of them, placed their hands on them, and prayed over Hannah, Drew, and the marriage they were beginning while the voices of the people they loved continued around them.
It was beautiful.
The two people who had first met while serving the Lord together were now standing on their wedding day, surrounded in prayer as they prepared to begin a lifetime together.
Not long after, they walked back down the aisle as husband and wife.
The rest of the day was filled with so much joy—the laughter of their closest friends, families who couldn't have been happier for them, and two newlyweds who still seemed happiest when they were right beside each other.
There were beautiful details and portraits throughout their Bicentennial Barn wedding day, but these are the moments we hope their photographs bring them back to years from now.
The anticipation.
The prayers.
The hands intertwined.
The people who surrounded them.
And the joy of finally getting to call your best friend your husband or wife.
Hannah and Drew, what a joy it has been to photograph this season of your lives.
From your engagement session to the moment you finally saw each other on your wedding day, we have loved witnessing the friendship, faith, and genuine joy at the heart of your relationship.
We hope these photographs always bring you back to the huge smiles during your first look, the sound of your favorite people worshiping around you, your parents surrounding your marriage in prayer, and all those little moments spent hand in hand.
Keep choosing each other. Keep being best friends. And keep the Lord at the center of the marriage you began on this beautiful day.
We are so incredibly happy for you two and cannot wait to see the story the Lord continues to write through your life together.
Congratulations, Hannah and Drew!!
