There are some love stories that just make our hearts burst, and Melodie and Carter’s is one of them! We had the absolute joy of photographing Carter’s proposal to Melodie yesterday, and it felt like a full-circle moment in the sweetest way. Almost exactly one year ago, we met them for a couples session, and from the moment we started photographing them, they completely lit up our lives. These two are so full of joy, constantly laughing together, and it’s impossible to be around them without smiling!
So when Carter reached out to us about a week ago to set up the proposal, we were SO excited! Julia saw the message, looked over at Sean, and said, “It’s happening! Carter is proposing to Melodie!!” Cue happy dancing in the kitchen and immediate brainstorming to help make it perfect!
Melodie had been wanting to visit Hubert Family Farms, where they have the most stunning tulip fields (and you can even pick your own!). So Carter decided to incorporate that into their special day, making the proposal even more meaningful and unique to them. To keep the surprise, we reached out to Melodie about setting up a couples session, which worked out perfectly—she had actually messaged us a couple of weeks before about doing one! Little did she know, this wouldn’t be just any session!
Keeping this secret was SO hard, and we were counting down the days! When the day finally arrived, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. Everything came together beautifully, and the moment Carter got down on one knee, Melodie’s reaction was priceless! She was completely surprised, and afterward, she laughed and said she was so proud that Carter actually kept it a secret! You could just tell how much they share everything with each other, which made this moment even sweeter.
Looking back, it’s amazing to see how much of their love story we’ve been able to document—from our first session with Melodie and her sweet dog, Willie, to their couples session in Downtown Huntsville, and now their proposal. We’ve captured them becoming puppy parents, falling in love, and now saying yes to forever.
Melodie and Carter, we’re just so happy for you! From the moment we met you both, we could see how much joy and laughter you share, and capturing this next chapter was the sweetest honor. The way you light up around each other is something truly special, and we have no doubt the best is yet to come. This is only the beginning, and we can’t wait to see all the joy ahead for you two!
