Right before the ceremony began, someone stepped inside with the forecast: rain was coming.
Without missing a beat, Katie and Zach made the call—rain or shine, they were getting married on the lake. No backup plan. No hesitation. Just two people completely focused on what mattered most: becoming husband and wife.
As the ceremony began, gentle sprinkles danced on the surface of the water. Zach held Katie’s hands, tears in his eyes as he spoke the vows he had written by hand. He paused—emotion catching in his throat—and Katie reached out, gently resting her hand on his arm. A quiet, steady presence. A moment so small and so profound all at once.
And then, right as the officiant said the words “You may now kiss the bride,” a gust of wind swept across the lake, and the heavens opened. The rain poured.
Cue our giant umbrella—and cue The Notebook soundtrack while you’re at it—because it truly felt like we were standing in the middle of a Nicholas Sparks movie. And these two? They kissed in the rain like they were the only two people in the world. It was cinematic, romantic, and absolutely unforgettable.
From the moment we first met them (you can see their engagement session here), we could tell Katie and Zach had something beautiful. And throughout the entire wedding day, that only became more evident.
Zach is strong, steady, and deeply devoted. In his vows, he talked about how Katie’s nurturing heart, quick wit, and all the little things that make her her are what make him fall for her again and again. Katie changed his life. She gives him peace, makes him feel truly known, and brings him a deep sense of home.
And Katie? She glowed. She talked about how she used to pray for the perfect man, and how God gave her something better—someone who made her laugh, stood by her in every hard season, and gave her a love more real than she ever imagined. The way she looks at Zach with full trust and joy speaks volumes. She lets her guard down with him—and he softens in her presence. Watching the way they balance each other is like watching puzzle pieces click together.
They embraced every moment of their day—even in the downpour—with joy and grace. They danced in the rain for their husband-and-wife portraits without hesitation. They trusted us to create magic and genuinely had fun doing it. It was the kind of adventurous love that reminds us why we do what we do.
Later that evening, Katie and Zach slipped away for a quiet dinner on the pier—just the two of them. The light was still bright, but soft and dreamy, with mist rising off the lake like something out of a fairytale. It was one of those moments that felt so real and tender, and the photos captured every bit of that magic.
Katie and Zach, your day was something out of a dream. Not because every moment went exactly as planned—but because you embraced every moment with full hearts. You laughed in the rain, cried through your vows, and chose to be present no matter what the sky was doing. That speaks volumes about the kind of life you're going to build together—full of joy, laughter, and so much love.
We’re still talking about your rainy kiss, those portraits in the storm, and how sweetly you cared for each other all day long. It was such an honor to capture your love story, and even more of a joy to witness it in action. You two are the real deal. Marriage looks so, so good on you.
We’ll never forget this day—and we have a feeling neither will you.
