There’s something about becoming a mother that changes the way you see time.
Before children, people tell you how fast it goes. You hear it over and over again. But then one day, you look down and realize the tiny baby you were rocking to sleep is suddenly walking beside you, reaching for your hand, saying your name, becoming your little best friend right before your eyes.
And somehow, it all happens at once.
This spring, we photographed several motherhood sessions at Carillon Park here in Dayton, Ohio, and every single one reminded us why photographs matter so deeply.
The tiny fingers wrapped around mama’s hands.
The way toddlers rest their heads on their mother’s shoulders when they get shy.
The baby toes.
The soft snuggles.
The stage where they still want to be carried.
These moments feel ordinary while we’re living them… until suddenly they aren’t anymore.
Now that I’m a mother myself, I feel that truth more than ever.
Lyla is walking and talking now, and somehow she already feels so grown up compared to just a year ago. Avela is sitting up and beginning to play with her big sister, and watching their relationship grow has filled our hearts in ways we never could have imagined.
Motherhood has taught me so much about love, sacrifice, gratitude, and dependence on the Lord.
It’s the quiet giving of yourself every single day.
The sweetness hidden inside even the smallest moments.
The prayers whispered over little lives.
The realization that these children are truly gifts from God entrusted to us for such a short season.
And honestly, it’s also made me more thankful than ever for my own mom.
For her strength.
Her joyful love.
Her constant encouragement.
The way she always made me feel seen, cared for, and deeply supported in every dream I carried.
These sessions became so much more than photographs to me.
They became reminders that motherhood is beautiful not because it’s perfect — but because it’s full of deep, meaningful love in the middle of ordinary days.
As photographers, we’ve always believed photographs are about legacy.
Not just documenting how something looked… but preserving how it felt.
And this season of motherhood has only deepened that belief in us even more.
Whether we’re documenting a wedding day, the beginning of a marriage, or the little years that follow, we’re always reminded that the most meaningful photographs are the ones that bring you back to how a season of life truly felt.
The laughter.
The closeness.
The love that filled the ordinary moments.
Those are the memories worth holding onto forever.
At the end of the day, we believe the most meaningful photographs are the ones that preserve the beauty of a season exactly as it felt.
Whether we’re documenting the beginning of a marriage or the little years that follow, our heart has always been to create timeless imagery filled with genuine connection, joy, and legacy.
